Dishes or entertain the kids??

If I always chose entertain I would never have clean dishes. So with a 4 year old and a just turned 1 year old...creativity and speed is the key! Yes I have a dishwasher, but most of the time it is more effort to load that thing than to just do them!
So today's creative idea, at least to keep the little one busy...I took an empty tissue box and stuffed various little things in it, Mega block, hot wheel car, sock, rubber bracelet, snack lid, etc..

handed it to him & he was off. He sat for at least 15 minutes pulling the things out and then putting them back in. Fun, engaging, and working those gross motors!

A fall project: not too messy and easy

Just put a little fall color paint on a paper plate and 1 Qtip for each color.
Paint child's hand and part of their arm brown for tree limbs and trunk (the messiest part!)
Have child use Qtip dots as leaves.

A change in content!

As all of you know, I am not longer at the school teaching 5th and 6th grade. My family has moved back to Durango, Colorado to be near family and for my husband to help grow his carpet business there. I think this fall is the first time since I went to Kindergarten that I wasn't either going to school for my self or preparing a classroom to teach in. I am still saddened by it, but I am currently being a mom and trying to empty all the boxes and organize a place to live! Not easy with a 4 year old and almost 1 year old.
This blog was once a way for all my class to see kids work and events. Well it is changing content...
I want to keep it as a way to keep all of you posted on what events are going on in Durango and San Diego, maybe post a good sale or coupon deal, food ideas, and my big goal is to help my fellow teachers with ideas for their classroom. If you are teaching a certain topic and are in need of ideas let me know, I will do my best to help either with a project idea or field trip idea!

We visited a Hindu Temple, ate at an India Buffet and tried lots of different things, and then went to an Indian market to get some goodies.

We have been very lucky to have Ms. Sheela (Kavita's mom) provide us with small extra lessons about India.

2 week count down

Yes we made it the final 2 weeks. Ahh wait! We only have 2 weeks, 9 days! As teacher yes I am excited for summer, but with the final days of school comes lots of work...and not enough hours to do it. Our class is busy, busy, busy.
Today we are attending the San Diego County Fair. We plan to see animals, eat food and maybe a ride or two.
Thursday we are adventuring to Little India, can't wait to see the sights and most of all eat the food!
Friday is field day and the weather couldn't be more perfect.
Somewhere is all of this I have to complete report cards, make class awards and do a class movie.. someone please add a few more hours to the day and attach me to an IV filled with Green Tea Latte!:)
